Celebrating the sixth year! (Also discussing some topics)

Hello everyone and a blessed year to you all. We hope that all of you are fine and in the best condition.

First of all, the idea of this post is new to us, but we always wanted to publish status updates like this for a very long time. These updates will be about the team’s financial situation, our future plans that are related to some issues and topics, announcements about what we may add to the site in terms of services or features. Also, we want to make it easier to communicate with our followers and our community and constantly inform you of what we may or may not have already done.

We hope that you like this idea of posting these updates, which we will try to do it once every three months.

Here is a list of the topics that we will discuss in this post:

The sixth anniversary of the team’s founding

Yes! This is really the sixth year since we founded Erai-Raws. The first 5 years were very challenging. The team faced so many obstacles and problems specially on the last three years. We managed to survive them because of you guys, so thank you very much for not losing the hope in us and trusting us and also supporting us.

An update regarding the team’s financial status

Despite the financial problems that we faced recently and mentioned in the Critical Situation post, we were able to avoid a major problem thanks to the supporters, thank you all! Currently, the status of donations is somewhat stable, but we still didn’t recover all of the old donors (it seems that the Critical Situation post has not reached everyone yet). However, the total current monthly donations are sufficient to pay all of the monthly costs without a problem, but in terms of annual subscriptions (domains, email service for the site, DNS and other services), sometimes we may struggle to pay its subscription. Fortunately, the one-time donations that we receive from time to time help us a lot to pay them.

Recently, some of you have not noticed yet, the prices of the monthly subscriptions mentioned in the transparency report on the donations page have been changed in the past months. The policies of the companies that we use, changed their prices to reduce their losses due to their use of the euro currency mainly in their financial transactions (due to the impact of the Russian-Ukrainian war).

In the future, we may modify the donations page slightly in order to explain the monthly fundraising process better than right now. We want to make it like Anidb site, and with much better explanation of the method of donating and obtaining rewards for donors, etc. (Work on redesigning the page is still in progress)

An update regarding the missing website content

This is a very old topic since the beginning of 2021, so approximately 50-60% of the site’s content has not been added yet. We have been very late in adding the missing content to the site and even fulfilling our promise to add it quickly. Recently, we started randomly adding the missing content to the site, but we are planning to continue working on it until October (Fall 2023). The missing content should be fully added by that time if we didn’t face problems. The process will take time due to our simple resources. We are talking about more than 14TB of seasonal anime, in addition to 5TB of old anime that we decided to add. Some of them are old requests of supporters (Yes, we have not forgotten them!!)

Discussing issues related to the accounts on the site

It seems that many people are still having problems registering a new account on the site. Please be patient when registering a new account or when requesting a password reset. The verification message will reach you after a few seconds. If you did not receive it within a quarter of an hour, try checking the spam or junk box. If you did not receive anything, try emailing us with the same email used in the account on this contact email. We will try to solve the problem as soon as possible. Also, those who have problems with the authentication app, please contact us on the site’s email with the same email used in the account, so that we can help you solve the problem as soon as possible.

Plans to add new features to the site in the future

All we can say about this subject at the present time is that we have a future plan to add a number of features for the users of the site.

Examples:

•  My Anime List (To add your favorite anime to a list for easy access)

• Reviews and Ratings (We will also add the reviews and ratings system on the anime pages so that you can express your opinions)

• Colors Theme (we will add different colors for the theme so that you can change them through the account settings according to your preference)

We will try to think of a number of good features to add to the site in order to make the experience of using it better.

A proposal regarding batches and HEVC

Well, here we have come to the most important topic here.

This proposal is not genius or complicated to implement, but the problem is related to people’s opinions and their ability to run the HEVC format. The suggestion is that we publish the batches in HEVC format and in 1080p resolution only. This change will not affect the daily releases (This suggestion will only apply to batches). It will be implemented on large episodes only, such as 900mb or more (from sources such as Funi or CR). So far, we will not publish HEVC for daily releases, but we may consider doing it for the most important or most popular anime in every season to keep up with the demand of followers. The idea aims to reduce the space used to store files and also to reduce the consumption of internet data when downloading files. This proposal is to help you to download episodes as batches without consuming a lot of internet data or wasting disk space on videos that are not even Blu-ray. Also, it will help us speed up seeding files and store them for a long time without worrying about storage.

After this post, we will open a vote poll for a week on Twitter, Reddit, Google, and also Discord. Later, we will announce if the majority thinks that this proposal suits them or not.
